It’s Saturday afternoon and Kricket’s taking her nap so I’m trying to get as many blog posts scheduled as I can! Earlier this week I recorded a video for today’s blog post. I was planning on doing a post about the make-up I wear, etc. I had three videos that I needed to put together. I normally use iMovie. I’d loaded the videos from my phone (I normally airdrop them to my computer) to the app. I didn’t realize it was still pulling the videos from my phone. Anyhow when I was trying to export the video my phone said that I didn’t have enough room so I went through and deleted a bunch of movies and pictures. Yep, there went the video that I’d been working on all week! I had to step away from the computer …
So next Sunday guess what the topic will be, LOL!
I’ve been noticing some fine lines above my right eyebrow and just something weird is going on with my chin. I have this odd wrinkle on the right side. Since we’re not in the sun as much I’ve gone back to using the Pumpkin Enzyme Peel every other night and I’ve added in derma rolling to help produce collagen. So this routine that I’m about to list out is only for every other night. Farther down I’ll list out what I do on the other nights.
Step 1: I double cleanse using DHC Cleansing Oil. I love this stuff! It just melts your makeup off.
Step 2: Pumpkin Enzyme Peel. I leave this on for five minutes and remove with a wet washcloth and my skin is glowing. When I first started using this product I was only using it once a week and really started noticing how dull my skin got towards the end of the week. I got on their website and read that they suggest using it three times a week. I love it so much I started using it every other day to get that glow!
Step 3: Derma Roll. Make sure you soak this in hydrogen peroxide for 10-15 minutes before and after each use. Also, if you get this one (it’s not very expensive) throw it out and get a new one each month. Your putting teeny tiny holes in your skin and you want to make sure it’s especially clean. You don’t want to get an infection. There are a ton of videos on YouTube that will show you how to use and there are a bunch of graphics on Pinterest as well.
I got these little cups and hydrogen peroxide at Target. I put my Derma Roller in the cup and pour the hydrogen peroxide in the cup until the entire roller is covered. Let it soak for 15 minutes before and after each use. I also store my Derma Roller in the plastic case that it comes with.
Step 4: Hyaluronic Acid Filler. I LOVE this product. Do you remember putting Elmer’s Glue on your hand as a child and peeling it off? Or was I just that weird kid? This stuff is kinda like that. It’s a gel but it fills in all of those fine lines. FYI, you don’t peel it off!
Step 5: Calendula Lotion. This ones a little bit pricier but a little bit goes a long way. I bought the jar I’m currently using in January of this year and I’m still on the same jar. I mean it’s starting to get low but wow it’s August … that’s how long it’s lasted. This stuff is like a creamy piece of heaven. I normally have really dry skin in the winter and I didn’t have any dry skin this past February/March. I also don’t like putting my fingers in the jar. Even though my hands are clean I’m worried about bacteria getting in the product so I use these little spatulas to get the product out of the container.
Step 6: Eye Cream. I’ve used a ton of different eye creams including the super duper expensive Chanel ones and this one is by far my favorite and the reason that I say that is because I can actually see a difference. This is another product that a little bit goes a long way. Again, I bought this jar back in January of this year and I still have quite a bit left as you can see.
Step 7: Lips. These are my two favorite lip balms / treatments. Fresh is by far my favorite but it’s a little expensive. With that being said it’s worth it! Burt’s is my second favorite. I’m not crazy about he original formula but I do LOVE the cucumber mint. Fresh normally offers free shipping on orders over $50. Some of my other favorite items from them are their shampoo and conditioner. These are AMAZING my hair has never felt so soft! The caramel lip balm. I LOVE this color it’s so soft.
On Those Other Nights
Step 1: Double Cleanse with DHC Cleansing Oil
Step 2: Retinol. I really like this one because it’s so gentle. This is kinda gross but if you’re a mom you get it. Sometime Kricket either licks me or gives me these giant open mouth kisses on my face and I wanted something that if she licked me I wasn’t worried about it getting on her. Also, this doesn’t happen everyday in fact it’s few and far between but ya know!
Step 2: Vitamin C. This is supposed to be a brightening serum and help with my dark spots / melasma. Ever since I’ve been using it I see it on beauty bloggers all over the internet and how it’s one of their favorite products. An esthetician actually told me about this product when she did a guest blog post for me. I don’t know if it’s one of those things that once you know about it you see it everywhere but I really like it and it makes my skin dewy with this really pretty glow.
Step 3: Hyaluronic Filler – make sure that you watch my IG stories because I always tell you guys when this stuff goes on sale!
Side note: Everything that I’ve read about Dermarolling says not to use retinol or vitamin c right after because they’re so harsh and they can irritate the skin. Which is why I use them on the other days. The Dermaroller that I use has the smallest needles on the market (or so they say). It’s NOT medical grade and it’s primarily for getting collagen production but to also get the skincare products absorbed into the skin.
Step 4: Calendula Cream
Step 5: Eye Cream
Step 6: Lips
