I started hunting for a keto dessert book probably back in March. My mom has been dying to make Christmas cookies with Kricket. She was too young last year but bring on the sprinkles this year. Since Kricket also has a wheat allergy she’s kind of limited to what she can do. I NEVER in a million years thought I’d be the mom saying no to gluten, no to sugar, etc. However, now here we are and I’m trying to still give Kricket all of those memories without her knowing that she can’t have them.
My other line of thinking on the no sugar is that if she thinks she’s been eating it for years then it won’t be a big deal when she’s around it. Not to mention diabetes runs in our family, so there’s that. Kricket’s had brownies, she’s had chocolate chips and she’s had cookies. They’ve just all been made with some type of sugar alcohol and not processed sugar.
I want to give her the memory of making sugar cookies with her Tillie (that’s my mom’s grandma name) and decorating the cookies for Santa.
Which is why I selected Keto Baking for our November Book Club pick. I’ve highlighted the recipes that I’ll be making. All of them in my opinion are great for the holidays. There’s even a section in the book for savory baking recipes. I’ve pulled a couple of those out as well. The garlic bread and popovers would be a great addition to any holiday meal.
Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday because I LOVE the food but more importantly I love the leftovers! Growing up we always spent Thanksgiving with my grandparents on my dad’s side and would come home with plates and plates of food. The first thing we did was make mini sandwiches with the leftover turkey on King’s Hawiian Rolls with a little bit of mayonnaise and watch a movie. My mom started getting out Christmas decoration and started decorating the next day. So needless to say over the years I’ve been looking for a replacement leftover roll! I’m hoping one of these will do the trick. 🙂
What I’ll be making:
- New York Crumb Cake
- Dairy Free Blueberry Coffee Cake
